CARINA BRUWER  – FLUTE

Carina took up the flute at the age of 14 (having played the piano since the age of 9). In 2002 she received the degree BMus (Hons) cum laude from the University of Stellenbosch, where she won dozens of awards and bursaries throughout her studies.

Prior to founding Sterling EQ in 2007, Carina directed and toured her own Classical crossover productions; performed, recorded for, and managed diverse musical groups from Classical to Latin Salsa, and she appeared as guest soloist with the KZN Philharmonic and Cape Philharmonic as well as other ensembles.

Also a highly decorated long distance swimmer, Carina has competed in 8 countries, breaking nearly a dozen records (national and international), winning numerous races, and enjoying significant media coverage, highlights of which includes being one of Cosmopolitan’s Awesome Woman 2005, one of Glamour’s “Women We Love”, and Sports Illustrated’s “Top 10 Beauties of Sport”, plus a full-length feature on CNN and an insert on Gillette World Sport.

Other work: founder and CEO of Gigster, a sophisticated online platform which facilitates the booking of live gigs for professional artists in South Africa. Founder of Swim for Hope (raising funds for charity in SA and Italy)
