They say times flies when you’re having fun. This couldn’t be more true for the members of Sterling EQ. South Africa’s #1 instrumental group is celebrating their 10 year anniversary and has announced a Greatest Hits album to mark the occasion.
10 Years of Sterling EQ features all the songs that fans have grown to love since the SAMA-winning outfit first formed in 2007. Fronted by flautist Carina Bruwer, the musical phenomenon has undergone lineup changes as the years have passed, but the sound has stayed consistent, resulting in incredible opportunities at home & abroad. The current line-up includes violinist Luca Hart and cellist Ariella Caira.
Sterling EQ’s work has seen them travel to 13 countries, featured on CNN’s African Voices, perform over a 1000 live shows and win numerous awards including a SAMA, a Ghoema and a Huisgenoot Tempo award.
“The journey with Sterling EQ has been life changing” says Carina Bruwer “and nothing could have prepared us for the success we’ve achieved. Working on 10 Years of Sterling EQ has forced us to be reflective and to remember some of the exciting events we’ve played including the IPL Opening Ceremony, the FIFA Congress Opening Ceremony, Idols, the SAMAS and an unforgettable collaboration with Boney M in Dubai.
“So much has happened in those ten years; besides the touring and other “sterling” experiences, we have also done diverse things as individuals. Ariella has been busy with radio presenting and voiceover work, Luca self-produced her own solo album, and I launched an online entertainment booking platform as well as an international charity swimming project”, says Bruwer, who is also a mother of three.
The 20 track 10 Years of Sterling EQ includes the hits from Sterling EQ’s 3 albums, and is available from all major retail stores, as well as on iTunes and streaming. The compilation also includes new material, cementing this legendary outfit’s status as fresh, relevant and proudly South African.
