Sterling EQ is South Africa’s premier instrumental pop supergroup that has transformed the landscape of instrumental music both locally and internationally with their unique blend of virtuosity and modern beats. With four successful albums, three major music awards, and over 1,500 live performances in 15 countries, the band has captivated tens of thousands of followers.

Led by celebrated flautist and marathon swimming record-breaker Carina Bruwer, Sterling EQ features Classically trained virtuosos, each boasting awards, degrees, and distinctions, who fuse their passion for classical mastery with contemporary pop sounds to deliver high-impact performances at corporate events, festivals, and major live shows.
Career highlights include winning some of the most prestigious music awards in South Africa, such as a South African Music Award (SAMA), a Ghoema Music Award, and a Huisgenoot Tempo Award. In 2011, the band signed a major record deal with EMI South Africa, which later became Universal Music South Africa. They have graced top-tier events, including the SAMA Awards Show, the FIFA Congress Opening Ceremony and Official World Cup Banquet, the World Travel Awards in India, Dubai, Durban, and Johannesburg, as well as SA Idols, Miss South Africa Finals, the IPL Opening Matches, the Cape Town and Durban Stadium launches, and hundreds of private and corporate events.
Other memorable moments in their career involve collaborations with notable artists like Boney M, Dave van Vuuren, and Loyiso Bala, and sharing stages with internationally recognized acts such as Snow Patrol, Carole Samaha, and Lira. They have performed in front of celebrities like Elton John, Liz Hurley, Annie Lennox, Lance Armstrong, and Dr. Robert Rey, among others.
Sterling EQ has also gained further international recognition through playlisting on CMusic TV, being selected by The Guardian (UK) as one of its “Musical Movers and Shakers” in its “March Best Music from Around the Map,” and receiving song submissions from esteemed international songwriters and instrumental music producers, including Tony Hiller and the celebrated Mike Batt.

Behind The Instruments
Carina Bruwer
Classically trained turned Jazz-and-world flautist Carina Bruwer is praised far and wide for her phenominal technique combined with her idiosyncratic improvisation skills and soulful interpretations rarely associated with this instrument.
A versatile professional, Carina excels not only in music but also in marathon swimming and entrepreneurship. She founded Sterling EQ in 2007 and has led the act musically ever since, serving as executive producer for releases, producing and directing music videos, and managing styling concepts, marketing, and media.
Known for her powerful motivational talks, Carina inspires others through her diverse experiences and extensive accomplishments.
A number of phenomenal Sterling EQ electric violinists, electric cellists, and even electric harpists are available to join Carina at events, depending on event detail and location
Luca - electric violin
Ace violinist Luca Hart does not only leave audiences in awe with her Grappeli-inspired solos, she is also a gifted composer and producer
Lynette - electric violin
Exquisite violinist Lynette Rorich holds a BMus cum laude from the University of Stellenbosch. She performs regularly as a soloist throughout South Africa and beyond, in addition to collaborating with Sterling EQ
Ariella - electric cello
Dynamic cellist Ariella Caira also boasts an acting degree. With a solid Classical training and years of experience in improvisation, Ariella contributes far more than mere bass lines; the cello is an integral part of the melodic and harmonic makeup of SEQ
Dorette - electric cello
Versatile cellist Dorrette Roos is known for her unique style and ability to embrace any genre. She performs both solo and with various bands and ensembles throughout Cape Town and South Africa.
Bale - electric violin
Mzanzi violinist Balekane Moloisane brings a fresh, exciting, and glamorous flair to her performances. Versatile in various styles, she freelances with some of Johannesburg’s top orchestras while also performing solo and with Sterling EQ
Pearl - electric cello
Talented cellist Seal Pearl Jung has performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras and served as the principal cellist of the CTPYO. She collaborates with various ensembles and contemporary groups while also showcasing her talent in solo performances.
